“It’s time to change to renewable energy” - Youth Ambassador of World Future Council and Founder and President Green Hope UAE weighs in on sustainability

27 August 2015

15 years ago, in September 2000, global leaders agreed on a set of targets, famously known as The Millennium Development Goals which promised to transform our world into one that was sustainable, equitable and poverty free. I was too young to understand or comprehend any of these goals back then, but now, I fully realise that their non-fulfillment has pushed our planet to the edge of a precipice. The evolution of social media over the past decade has thrown open a treasure trove of information, data and statistics that assist civil society, policy makers and stakeholders to determine and gauge progress, based on facts rather than surmises. Today’s youth are often referred to as the “connected” generation due to our “web-savvyness” and we must use these skills to assess and analyse information and data sources on the progress of the sustainable development goals, to ensure that the timeline of 2030 is achievable.
