The 11th Ecocity World Summit will be held in Abu Dhabi from the 11th to 13th October 2015. Held every two years, the Summit is a key event for the regional and international community that brings together a wide range of participants to discuss key urban challenges facing the world today.
Abu Dhabi International Airport is located 38km southeast of central Abu Dhabi. It’s easy to find your way there, as three main roads lead from the city centre to the airport.
Depending on your nationality, you may or may not require a visa to enter the UAE.
If you are a GCC citizen: No entry visa is required.
If you are a citizen of one of the following countries, you will be issued with a free-of-charge visit visa upon entry: UK, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Finland, Spain, Monaco, Vatican, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Hungary, Latvia, Estonia, Malta, Cyprus, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, United States, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
If you are a citizen of any other countries, you will need to apply for a visa through your nearest UAE embassy. In some cases, your airline may be able to help you. An eye scan will be required at the airport.

The Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) announced the next Ecocity World Summit (ECWS) is to be hosted in Abu Dhabi from October 11th to 13th 2015.
The announcement was made at the 2013 biannual Summit in Nantes, France, in the presence of nearly 2000 delegates from over 44 countries.
The ECWS is the longest running international conference series on sustainable cities, commencing in 1990. ECWS 2015 will be the first edition to be held in the Arab region.
Adopting the theme of “Ecocities in challenging environments”, this event aims to:
Facilitate exchanges among local, regional and governmental decision-makers, researchers and the civil society
Bring together all the different disciplines on sustainable cities
Develop action strategies relevant to the host region and to the global community
Empower citizens to play an active role in shaping urban developments
